A Perfect 10!
This little pumpkin Eve Koechner turns double digits tomorrow! A perfect 10.
David Koechner and I went through what I think to be one of the most difficult pregnancies one must endure.
Eve had 8 markers of a neurological disorder. We saw each one on the jumbo screen. We were told she wouldn’t even have the mentality of a one-day-old because her brain had stopped growing. She would be a small person in a wheelchair and may not know that we exist. She would have to have open-heart surgery after she was born and would need physical therapy 6 times a week for the rest of her life. The doctor pointed out the strain this would have on our marriage, our other children, and our finances. We were told by a few professionals one of the kindest things we could do was to let her go to God.
There’s a lot I don’t have space to get into here, but after we decided to welcome our first from God (that’s how the name Eve came about), 2 weeks later as the doctor examined her she said, “There been a miraculous turnaround.”
I looked up to God and said, “If you give me a healthy baby, I will proclaim her a modern-day miracle.”
The little baby girl who fought to overcome her adversities in utero was born healthy on January 13, 2011.
I kept my promise to God by proclaiming her a modern-day miracle out loud. The first year I said it so booming at church when I asked for the floor, the congregation was caught off guard. In the 2nd yr. I said it quietly as I introduced her. By the 3rd year, it was a whisper. So here, one day shy of ten years later, I once again proclaim that Eve is a modern-day miracle!
This life experience showed me all sides of our issue and we were blessed to have choices.
The double blessing of Eve is after I walked in my own shoes, I will never judge another.
I don’t know why my sister is on this planet or what she has set up with God for her path. All I know is my path.
I find the more compassion I have for myself and my sister, the better life is.
I got you.
