Leigh Koechner
Leigh Koechner is a Podcaster, Author, Speaker, Spiritual Teacher and Parenting Expert for Deepak Chopra's Global Wellbeing App Jiyo.
Leigh is authentic, vulnerable, and funny as hell. She is a refreshingly unfiltered mother of 5 and is an Executive Producer on The Mindfulness Movement Film with Deepak Chopra, Poonacha Machaiah, Jewel and Rob Beemer.
Leigh guides women and men to Know & Own their WORTH so they may stand in their Power.
She creates a safe space in her Workshops, Mastermind Group and One-on-One Consulting where each person is allowed to open up and be vulnerable. When Leigh works with her clients, they feel her motto "I Got You" with Leigh as well as the other participants.
Guests on her messy imperfect life with leigh podcast share something messy from their lives, what they learned from it and how they are using it as a force for good now. You can tune in on any podcast platform. You may also watch it on Youtube.
All of the work that Leigh does is built on the foundation of reminding herself and others, “You Are Not Alone”.
“AS ADULTS, WE ARE PEELING BACK THE LAYERS OF OUR CHILDHOOD TO FIGURE OUT WHO WE TRULY ARE. OUR JOB AS A PARENT IS TO MAKE SURE OUR CHILDREN NEVER FORGET."
– Leigh Koechner
Leigh's Journey
I WAS RAISED IN KANSAS CITY in a home with a mentally ill mother who was locked behind her bedroom door and a father who worked hard and spanked hard. There were 6 kids in my family but, as odd as it seems, I felt all alone. I felt like no one saw me or heard me. My 7-year-old mind interpreted this as my being unworthy. I was so unworthy that I wasn’t even a good enough reason for my own mother to get out of bed. The result was my “tough-as-nails, I-don’t-need-anyone” persona. I lived out my tough unworthiness with sex, drugs, and Rick Springfield throughout high school, college, and into the streets of Los Angles. I knew one day I wanted to be married and start a family, but my lifestyle was not moving in that direction. It wasn't until, at 30 years old, completely worn out, that I dropped to my knees and asked God for help.
HE ANSWERED MY PRAYERS 3 WEEKS LATER when David Koechner, walked into the Kansas City Airport terminal.
My life-changing work started after we got together, and I didn’t know what in the heck to do. I was just use to getting drunk and making out in bars, not actually talking to anyone. I spent several months flopping around as Dave held my ankle. When I grew too tired to flop, Dave picked me up and said, "Let’s go talk to someone and figure out what is going on." We went to a therapist who said she could tell we were committed to each other, but she would like to see me by myself. Two years later, and after six months straight of crying (she said I had 30 years of crying to do—and boy was she right!), I understood why I had behaved the way I had, and I started melting the armor I had worn since childhood. It no longer served me.
I AM A CHIP OFF THE OLD GOD BLOCK. Every religion says we are made in the likeness of God or that the Kingdom of God is within us. We cannot shake God even if we want to. We are NEVER alone. We are ALL connected. God runs through all of us, which makes us brothers and sisters of the humankind. Hello brother.
DAVE AND I HAD BEEN MARRIED 20 YEARS AND WE HAVE 5 CHILDREN, and boy what a wondrous ride it had been. We recently have split, but still I embrace each day. My eyes, mind, and heart are wide open so I don’t miss a thing. My house is like a pressure cooker of learning. My kids show me everyday where I still have work to do and I welcome it all with open arms.
I teach from the wisdom of my heart, while using the stories from the mess of life. I live with compassion and balls, and I celebrate my flawed and fabulous self. I look forward to celebrating you!
I Got you.
I love you.
I AM SO HAPPY YOU ARE HERE!

“I fell in love with the after-bedtime-Leigh Koechner. Late Night Leigh. Her 5 kids were all taken care of, as well as her husband—my pal—the hilarious Dave Koechner. Then, it was Leigh time. We’d communicate back and forth and I thought, “Man, if I could bottle and sell Leigh's energy, stilted point of view, passion, and madness, I’d never have to go out on the road again." I was shocked to learn that someone could be an amazing mother to 5 very active children, her husband’s Number One Fan, AND still have enough left over to have a fascinating and unique separate life of her own. Super Mom, Trophy Wife, and Late Night Leigh: apparently, all things are possible. I’m so glad she has this platform to share her inners with us any time of the day, because I’m too old to stay up late anymore.”

Leigh brings light to the world. It's what she does. She's not average in any way one can imagine. You could be intimidated by someone so beautiful and seemingly fearless, but she's not an intimidating person. She's not a snob. She's not pretentious. She's a goofball and she's got a heart full of love. She's a natural teacher and a magnetic human. People are drawn to her for many reasons and I think one of them is that she's this energetic dynamo. You'd have to be to raise five kiddos, right? Add on top of that going for further education, plus writing, plus producing, plus speaking, plus everything else - wow. I am always fascinated by what she's up to and where she's going, and she's an inspiring individual. I've quoted her many times to friends when I say, "My friend Leigh talks about how to give your gift." Sometimes my friends will get down on themselves for not being successful enough. Or they'll think their particular talents aren't flashy or impressive enough. And I will tell them that Leigh has been teaching people for years that we all have something incredible to give - it's just a matter of finding it. She helps people find it. And that's one of her many, many gifts!
There are times in our lives when we cross paths with certain people who have a profound effect on the way we see ourselves and others. Leigh is one of those people for me, and from what I’ve seen, many others as well. She leads her own life with an open heart, an insatiable appetite for clarity and wisdom in every aspect of her being. In my experience of well over a decade of knowing her, she has approached awareness and conscious living in a bold and fresh way that has only gotten more refined over time. I believe that anyone, at any stage in their personal development, can benefit by listening and contributing to what she offers, which can and does create a positive and ongoing change for us and those around us as a result. Each of us is, and will always be, a work in progress, so even better to work together to achieve a better experience in this life.

I'm loving your videos!!! The ownershit really hits home because for so long I have been in a job where other people are to blame if something isn't done so I've been doing that in my daily life. I'm finally making choices for myself and having complete ownershit:) Anyway, I just wanted to say keep it up because listening to you is just another reminder to stay positive, happy & healthy and be in the moment! Hope all is well with you and David! It's crazy, it's already been a year since you guys were at the casino for the Indiana Derby! So glad to have met you both.

Leigh’s Facebook live posts are definitely a bright spot in my day, that fill my heart and enlighten my mind in short, digestible spurts. With her own brand of easy spirituality, Leigh presents wisdom honed from her own experiences in an honest, relatable, and often hilarious way, which I can always apply to my own situations.
She motivates and demonstrates how to lead with an open heart and mind, and reminds me not to judge myself, even when that doesn’t seem possible. She encourages her audience members to meet all their endeavors with “grace and ease,” and reminds them not to forget to breathe!
Her series has initiated a realistic roadmap for me to gain specific and achievable growth in relationships, parenting, and self-love. I am grateful for the teachers I’ve encountered on my path. I would count Leigh as one of them.
